MUST. CONSUME.

So, the thing is I consume media in many various forms. And a lot of it. At first I thought well, I'm not that huge of a consumer, only to realise my first assumption was way off. From the moment I wake up, all the way to late night when I get to my bed's sweet embrace.

The rare moments I'm not consuming are usually when I'm walking to somewhere. And not even always then, if I've decided to take my headphones with me. Then I'll be blasting some good tunes.

I've taken note that I have some sort of a love-hate relationship with social media. I like the fact that I can keep up with what my friends are up to, but I myself am very bad at posting really anything about my day to day life. I much rather use WhatsApp and Discord as platforms to communicate with my friends and family. With Facebook, I've mostly distanced myself from it because I noticed I was just endlessly scrolling through it, when I could have used my time way better. Probably the only reason I haven't yet deleted it, is the fact that some of my friends rather use Facebook Messenger to keep in touch. Then the thing I hate about social media is, that to me it feels like there's some sort of an unwritten rule of "it didn't happen you didn't post about it on social media". Not really sure if it's just me.

But even with all of its faults, social media can be a huge source of inspiration and motivation for me. Especially Instagram, Pinterest and Reddit.

Video games can't go unmentioned here. The perfect manifestation of different forms of art. Screw anyone who says video games aren't art, I say. The kind of media I wish I could consume more right now alas, the amount free time is not on my side. I probably have more games unfinished than I have fingers. My playing is more periodical, there are weeks when I easily can play a week's worth of working hours. In contrast, there are weeks when I don't play anything for even 15 minutes. Even though sometimes playing a lot, I don't let it control my life so much that it would start to affect me negatively.

Am I a boomer in disguise?

And I do have to mention to analog media, especially newspaper. My morning feels empty and unfulfilled if I haven't even skimmed through the day's paper. I just simply like how it feels and that I can enjoy something without having to stare at a screen. Newspaper and breakfast, my morning routine, if you will.

I do enjoy digital media a shit ton, as you can see. But analog media fills the gaps that are left in me from consuming mostly digital media. It's more personal, in a way I think. That's why I also love bookshelves, they somehow make me feel more connected to the real world.
