You might want to consider stylizing your game

This goes for indie games especially. Indie companies just simply don't have the same amount of people working, and definitely not the same budget AAA game companies have. Some of the time, also the skill levels of the developers might also be lacking.  Whether a game has a good art style can be debated and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. There are games that are visually very pleasing, then there are games that some might call butt ugly, but that just might be their exact charm.  But. Let's not forget that games are much more than just their art style. Having good graphics won't save an otherwise shitty game. The most important factor after all for a game is good and/or fun gameplay and graphics is roughly speaking sort of a sprinkling on top. For an indie game though, it's easier to attract customers with those sweet, sweeeet looking graphics. And as an indie developer, you need people to notice your game. Also, your game will age way better. I mean, just look...

Once upon a time, there was SNES

First video games I ever played. Those fond memories of playing them without a clue what it says on the screen, just having fun playing, usually with my big brother and sometimes my little sister. The only thing I really understood from those back then was the "GAME OVER" screen.  Sometime in the 90's a SNES console appeared into our household. With three game cartridges - Donkey Kong Country, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Rise of the Robots.  The shit one Probably the only one of these I managed to finish was Rise of the Robots, but only because it was so ridiculously easy. Or I might have had the setting on easy, I was probably 7 years old at maximum when I played this, so can't really remember. And funnily enough, it's been on the lists of shittiest SNES games... and I can totally see why.  I also found out that you can actually try out yourself how bad it is!  Right here . Controlling it with a keyboard just makes it even worse.  The "this ...

MUST. CONSUME.

So, the thing is I consume media in many various forms. And a lot of it. At first I thought well, I'm not that huge of a consumer, only to realise my first assumption was way off. From the moment I wake up, all the way to late night when I get to my bed's sweet embrace.  The rare moments I'm not consuming are usually when I'm walking to somewhere. And not even always then, if I've decided to take my headphones with me. Then I'll be blasting some good tunes. I've taken note that I have some sort of a love-hate relationship with social media. I like the fact that I can keep up with what my friends are up to, but I myself am very bad at posting really anything about my day to day life. I much rather use WhatsApp and Discord as platforms to communicate with my friends and family. With Facebook, I've mostly distanced myself from it because I noticed I was just endlessly scrolling through it, when I could have used my time way better. Probably the only reason...

Introduction

Hello and welcome!  This blog is to be my media diary for a course during my studies at TAMK.  For now, I don't want to set a theme for it, but rather just write about topics that pique my interest. Most likely it will be love letters directed towards different aspects of media I really like, so you might expect a lot of stuff revolving around games, films, tv series and anime. Or in some cases very much the opposite, posts about what I don't like and why. Or just entirely something else.
